Since the opening of JKIA in 1978, two Terminals have been operational; Terminal 1 & 2 for International arrivals and departures. Emma Kinyua who works in Customer Service for the Kenya Airports Authority at JKIA, explains that there has been an increase in the number of passengers using the airport paving way for the expansion through Terminal 1A. The terminal has been able to serve more passengers with a capacity of 2.5 Million and serve a passenger load of 7.5 Million per year. As Emma explains, they have improved the customer experience for passengers with more counters, self check-in kiosks, comfortable waiting areas that include food courts, banks, duty free shops and bureaus.
