The Northern Water Collector Tunnel seeks to solve Nairobi’s water problems by increasing the water supply capacityand increase the water supply to a capacity of 140 million litres of water per day. Eng. Samuel Gitohu explains how the target is to collect flood waters from three rivers in Murang’a and channel them to Ndakaini Dam where they will be treated and directed to Nairobi. Additionally, there are also community water supply projects supplying water to smaller towns that have been generated from the Water Collector Tunnel project which will benefit about 400,000 residents of Murang’a.
