COVID-19 and maritime transport: Impact and responses

Global maritime trade will fall by 4.1% this year due to the unprecedented disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to UNCTAD’s flagship Review of Maritime Transport, released on 12 November.

Such a decline has ramifications for the global economy because around 80% of the goods traded internationally is carried by sea.
