Eric Okemwa, Renal Patient – Kisii Hospital
33-year-old Eric Okemwa has for the past 5 and a half years battled with kidney disease. Before the introduction of the Managed Equipment Services, Eric was forced to travel to Nairobi for his dialysis sessions parting with 12,000 shillings per every trip made including the purchase of consumables among other requirements for his sessions. This, a cost he says was too high for him as he also suffers from diabetes. The introduction of MES equipment across all counties in the country was one of the bes·t things that could happen to him. Today, he is very happy and grateful to the National Government as he is able to be treated close home at Kisii County Hospital and all his sessions are covered under NHIF.
