Introducing Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
Meet Nigerian Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, appointed by consensus by WTO members as the Organization’s next Director-General. She was picked from a slate of eight candidates in a selection process that started in June 2020 after the announcement that Roberto Azevêdo planned to step down from the position ahead of the end of his term.
When she takes office, Dr Okonjo-Iweala will make history by being the first woman and first African to lead the WTO.
