WTO at 25: Citizens, constituencies and the WTO
At a virtual event to mark the 25th anniversary of the WTO, representatives of the private sector, civil society, international organisations and media discussed the merits of a better public understanding of multilateral trade. While only governments have a seat at the table at the WTO, trade negotiations can benefit from the input of citizens and consumers as well as business, labour and environmental groups at the national level. They all have a role to play in shaping a more transparent and equitable global trading system. Extracts from the 25th anniversary live event held at the WTO on 19 November 2020.
