WTO Women Pioneers: Amina Mohamed

Amina Mohamed was the first African to Chair a WTO Ministerial Conference. She played a crucial role in reaching positive outcomes at the Nairobi Ministerial in 2015, such as the decision to eliminate export subsidies in agriculture. She was also the first woman to chair the Dispute Settlement Body, the Trade Policy Review Body and the General Council. Amina has served in several government positions in Kenya, including as Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister. Since 2019, Amina has been the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage.
